My Numbers

by Scott on June 1, 2014

My friend, Pam Trischuk, recently wrote a very intriguing post titled, “Numbers” on how we, as humans, tend to represent ourselves using numbers.

It got me thinking, what are my numbers that I use to tell the story about me? Below is my list of numbers that I tend to focus on in my daily life:

35 – Age

168 – Height in cm

158 – Weight in lbs.

9 – Shoe size

30 – Jean size I wore yesterday

3 – Number of siblings

11 – Grades of schooling completed

4735 – Number of Facebook friends

3985 – Number of Twitter followers

1225 – Photos posted to Instagram

7530 – Number of burpees completed for Buck-A-Burpee

8 – Number of obstacle races planned for 2014

5 – Avg. workouts per week

12 – Avg. number of hours worked per day

1,000,000,000 – Times I’ve kissed Jaxie

1 – Number of times I’ve hit “Rock Bottom”

1 – Avg. cups of tea I drink per day

I’ll ask the same question Pam asked at this point. Which of these numbers do you think is most meaningful to me? Which of these numbers tells you the most about me?

Pam goes on to say:

We are all so much more than a number, whether that number is our weight, our gym PR, our age, or our pants size.  Maybe the next time you’re negatively impacted by thinking about one of these particular numbers, you’ll think back to this post and this reminder of that fact.

What numbers do you attach the meaning to in your life?
